Presents research on changes over a two-year period in the use of new, Western financial practices by Southeast Asian refugees and in variables affecting those changes. Significant interaction effects showed that increased use of new practices was affected by age, education, work experience, and changes in English ability. (JOW)

Data on 1,739 married couples from 13 states were analyzed. Associations between satisfaction with savings and level of savings with measures of motivation to save, motivations to spend, and family resources were found to differ substantially between low- and high-income couples. (Author/CH)

Using a random sample of 68 high school students learning about consumer credit in home economics classes, the study measured learning of an experimental group using computer-assisted instruction and a control group using supervised reading methods. Adolescent consumer role perceptions were explored among 359 sixth- through twelfth-grade public school students. Results tend to support the notion that middle-school adolescents are generally experiencing the anticipatory stage and high school students are primarily at the formal stage of consumer role acquisition.
