For the last five years Western Illinois University has conducted work experience programs for putting secondary teachers and students with secondary teaching as their objective in direct contact with the business world so they may learn about the value of cooperative work experience programs at the secondary level. Effective teaching of the special needs marketing student through preparation, presentation, practice, and performance review is discussed. Also examined are several teaching strategies: individualized instruction; peer tutoring; field trips; games, simulations, and role playing; and cooperative work programs. (CT)
