Problem-Solving Styles in Autism Spectrum Disorder and the Development of Higher Cognitive Functions
Constable, Paul A.; Ring, Melanie; Gaigg, Sebastian B.; Bowler, Dermot M. – Autism: The International Journal of Research and Practice, 2018
The Vygotsky Blocks Test assesses problem-solving styles within a theoretical framework for the development of higher mental processes devised by Vygotsky. Because both the theory and the associated test situate cognitive development within the child's social and linguistic context, they address conceptual issues around the developmental relation…

Tulis, Maria – Teaching and Teacher Education: An International Journal of Research and Studies, 2013
Only a few studies have focused on how teachers deal with mistakes in actual classroom settings. Teachers' error management behavior was analyzed based on data obtained from direct (Study 1) and videotaped systematic observation (Study 2), and students' self-reports. In Study 3 associations between students' and teachers' attitudes towards…

Bhat, Anjana N.; Srinivasan, Sudha M.; Woxholdt, Colleen; Shield, Aaron – Autism: The International Journal of Research and Practice, 2018
Children with autism spectrum disorder present with a variety of social communication deficits such as atypicalities in social gaze and verbal and non-verbal communication delays as well as perceptuo-motor deficits like motor incoordination and dyspraxia. In this study, we had the unique opportunity to study praxis performance in deaf children…

Hummel, Thomas J.; Feltovich, Paul J. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1975
Monte Carlo methods were used to investigate the robustness of techniques used in judging the magnitude of a sample correlation coefficient when observations are correlated. Empirical distributions of r, t, and Fisher's z were generated. A technique for controlling error rates in certain situations is suggested. (Author/BJG)

Echternacht, Gary – 1976
The analysis of covariance is frequently used in observational studies to either adjust treatment comparisons for biases due to different distributions of extraneous variables or for improving the precison of the treatment comparisons. This paper discusses aspects that the researcher should keep in mind when planning such a study. In particular it…
