Williams, Bruce – Higher Education, 1976
Universities are particularly liable to suffer in periods of cost inflation. An index is derived to show that between 1965 and 1974 university costs increased more rapidly than other prices. The article suggests that linking university budgets to cost indexes is not a complete answer to the problem, and other steps are recommended. (Editor/LBH)

A comparison of Australian and United Kingdom faculty salaries takes into account academic rank, salary scales, relative prices and purchasing power, and tax rates. Although Australian academics at the bottom lecturer ranks have a real salary 64 percent higher than their counterparts in the U.K., professors have the same real salary. (MSE)
