Examines the factor structure of ratings made with Carkhuff's revised scales of facilitative conditions. The general assumption has been that these counselor characteristics were discrete counselor variables; however, this study suggests that at least two of the variables are closely related aspects of the same underlying quality. The purpose of this study was to identify and compare the perceptual characteristics of counselors at the elementary, secondary, and community college levels. Counselors (N=45) were asked to write "human relations incidents." There were no significant differences between groups. All counselors held positive perceptual characteristics. (NG)
