The Westchester County (New York) Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation has developed a program to motivate all segments of the community, including the corporate community, older adults, and school-age children to keep physically fit. Over 200 county park agencies were surveyed to determine: (1) what kinds of recreational services they provided; (2) the age and origin of visitors; (3) park acreage and its relationship to county population; and (4) the number and type of employees.
