Special educators and horticultural staff in rural Cherokee County, Alabama, collaborated on a curriculum guide intended to promote independent functioning at the job entry level. The guide, which covers such areas as work related skills, adapted equipment, and sales, has been used by mildly handicapped and nonhandicapped students as well. (CL)

Presented are the results of a survey sent to special needs educators in two Florida counties on the use of music in curricular development for mentally handicapped students and provided are suggestions on how to integrate music into the general education process. (JYC)

The author describes the curriculum at a school for trainable mentally retarded students. It is explained that the program involves 13 "stations" (such as music, social games, language development, and listening skills) designed to challenge students to achieve the level of success that is expected of them.
