This article reviews the role of teacher cognition in teaching and critically examines methods of its assessment. Research investigations of three aspects of teachers' thought processes that may have implications for educational practice are examined. The inclusion of cognitive competencies in a teacher's repertoire of skills is discussed. (IAH)

The relationships among sex education, values education, and adolescent decision making are explored, and responsibilities of schools in these areas are projected. Examples of school programs that include the teaching of values in sex education are given along with suggestions for parent-school cooperation. (PP)

Findings are related from a study designed to determine the effect of verbal-only, imagery-only, and integrated (verbal-to-imaginal) strategies on third graders' (N=111) levels of economic reasoning (use or nonuse of cost-benefit analysis) in their personal decision making.
