Part-time undergraduate student numbers have been increasing over the last 15 years. Some 615 separate part-time first degree courses in Great Britain are identified and examined in terms of the types of institutions offering them, their accreditation, timing, mode of provision, subject, entry and exit arrangements, and location. Five institutions under one governing board have begun a degree program that is more responsive to the needs of the mature adult.
