Aucone, Ernest J.; Raphael, Alan J.; Golden, Charles J.; Espe-Pfeifer, Patricia; Seldon, Jen; Pospisil, Tanya; Dornheim, Liane; Proctor-Weber, Zoe; Calabria, Michael – Assessment, 1999
Assessed the interrater reliability of the revised Advanced Psychodiagnostic Interpretation (API) (A. Raphael and C. Golden, 1998) scoring system for the Bender Gestalt Test (L. Bender, 1938). Agreement across nine raters exceeded 90% for each of three clinical protocols, and kappa statistics indicated good interrater reliability. (SLD)

Mordock, John B.; and others – J Sch Psychol, 1968
Attempt to assess efficiency of Haine and Koppitz scoring systems with Bender-Gestalt in ability to differentiate between brain-damaged and other young people in a residential treatment center did not prove useful. (Author/CJ)

Wagner, Edwin E.; And Others – Journal of Personality Assessment, 1978
The Rorschach, Hand, and Bender-Gestalt tests discriminated slightly between low IQ subjects classified as brain damaged or not. Substantial discrimination was observed between the same subjects classified by intelligence level. Brain impairment may underlie most or all retardation. The efficacy of projective techniques for diagnosing organicity…

Fidel, Edward A.; Ray, Joseph B. – Journal of Special Education, 1972
Studied was the validity of the Revised Objective Perceptual Test in discriminating among 40 normal and 60 neurologically handicapped (40 minimally organic and 20 grossly organic cerebral palsied) children between 5 and 10 years of age. (DB)

Gordon, Michael – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
The diagnostic significance of central placement of the first Bender-Gestalt design was examined by comparing protocols of clinic-referred and nonreferred children matched for age and IQ. As predicted, central placement occurred with greater frequency in the clinic group, but its clinical utility is unclear. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Behavior Problems, Clinical Diagnosis, Clinical Psychology, Diagnostic Tests

Lacks, Patricia; Storandt, Martha – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1982
Provides normative data on the Bender Gestalt Test (BGT) with a sample of 334 normal older adults. Showed that these older adults do not perform on the BGT in a manner that can be called brain damaged. Use of the cut-off score developed with younger persons appears appropriate. (Author)

Zuelzer, Margot B.; And Others – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
This study investigated whether Koppitz Bender Gestalt Scores were related to ethnocultural, socioeconomic and sex factors when statistical controls for intelligence were used. When intelligence was controlled for, it eliminated many effects for these variables. Results are discussed. (NG)

Wagner, Edwin E.; McCormick, Mary Kathleen – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Subjects with higher verbal than performance IQ's achieved significantly poorer Pascal-Suttell Bender-Gestalt scores than subjects with higher performance over verbal IQ's. The latter subjects were more likely to have dropped out of high school and to have spent some time in prison. (Author/RD)
Descriptors: Adolescents, Adults, Behavior Problems, Clinical Diagnosis
Koppitz, Elizabeth M. – 1982
The Koppitz Minibattery, that is, the Bender Gestalt Test, the Visual Aural Digit Span Test (VADS), and the Human Figure Drawing (HFD), was adopted and extended for use with middle school pupils (aged 11 to 14). Similarities and differences for older and younger children are described in behavior observation, objective scores and the qualitative…

FISHER, SARA – 1967
THE DRAW-A-PERSON AND THE BENDER-GESTALT TESTS WERE ADMINISTERED TO A GROUP OF SIBLINGS PARTICIPATING IN A STUDY OF LEARNING DISABILITY. THE SIBLINGS WERE DIVIDED INTO FOUR GROUPS OF SUBJECTS--EDUCATIONALLY HANDICAPPED (EH), SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC (SA) CONTROLS, EDUCATIONALLY HANDICAPPED SIBLINGS (EHS), AND SUCCESSFUL ACADEMIC SIBLINGS (SAS)…
