A survey completed by 40 regular and 54 special education teachers indicated that the majority did not use or used sparingly the existing data collection methods. Ss collected and analyzed academic data more than adaptive, emotional, and social data. A computerized technique was advocated by the author. (CL)

The application of technology in special education assessment is reviewed, implications for complying with requirements of P.L. 94-142 are noted, and cautions offered for adapting existing assessment instruments to the microcomputer. (CL)

A computer-based measurement system for monitoring student progress through an individualized math and reading curriculum is described along with results of a study to determine whether special education and Chapter 1 students could be identified in reference to the number of units of instruction completed by the end of a school year.
