The Changing Demography of Public School Teachers: Some Implications for Faculty Turnover in Urban Areas.
Dworkin, Anthony Gary
Sociology of Education, v53 n2 p65-73 Apr 1980
The paper assesses changes in class origin of three racial groups of teachers (White, Black, and Mexican American) in a major Southwestern metropolis. Variables associated with a desire to quit teaching are measured. Findings indicate when class origin is introduced as a control, race ceases to differentiate between those planning to leave education and those planning to continue teaching. (Author/DB)
