Orion, Nir; King, Chris; Krockover, Gerald H.; Adams, Paul E. – Science Education International, 1999
Explores the development and status of Earth Science Education in Israel and England and Wales. Finds that, despite separate traditions for education in the Earth Sciences, there are a surprisingly large number of commonalities between current trends in each of the countries in the study, and each has had difficulty determining what constitutes an…

Sallam, Sallam S.; Krockover, Gerald H. – School Science and Mathematics, 1982
A 32-week program to improve earth science in-service preparation was instituted at Purdue University during 1978-1979. Results indicate that positive attitudes toward science and instruction were achieved. It is felt that programs can be successful in fostering positive attitudes and creativity only if they are 16 to 32 weeks long. (MP)

Krockover, Gerald H. – Journal of Geological Education, 1977
Provides a listing of readily available sources of materials for secondary earth science teachers desiring to develop their own instructional modules. (SL)

Witham, Shelly Anne; Krockover, Gerald H.; Ridgway, Kenneth D.; Zinsmeister, William J. – Journal of College Science Teaching, 2003
Describes the development and implementation of an undergraduate earth science course using WebCT, a multipurpose software package. The course included class e-mail, science hyperlinks, an online calendar, an online discussion board, and online handouts. (DDR)

Battista, Michael T.; Krockover, Gerald H. – Journal of Research in Science Teaching, 1984
Compared two methods of instruction for improving the computer literacy of preservice elementary teachers (N=94): computer assisted instruction in an earth science course and computer programming in a mathematics education course. Computer literacy was measured by the Minnesota Computer Literacy and Awareness Assessment. Methodology, findings, and…

Smith, David R.; Krockover, Gerald H. – Science Teacher, 1988
Indicates that atmospheric science is not just forcasting the weather. Gives an overview of current topics in meteorology including ozone depletion, acid precipitation, winter cyclones, severe local storms, the greenhouse effect, wind shear and microbursts. Outlines the Atmospheric Sciences Education Program at Purdue University to produce…

De Vito, Alfred; Krockover, Gerald H. – 1991
This resource book includes 163 science activities for both preservice and in-service teachers. Activities have been field-tested and are cross-referenced according to the processes of science and the content area covered. Each activity has been written to evoke ideas from the reader, thus enabling each activity to serve a base for additional…
