Eno, Larry; Deichmann, John – Journal of Special Education, 1980
All methods reviewed significantly discriminate between groups of brain damaged and unimpaired children. No method, however, provides successful predictive rates high enough to warrant the use of the Bender as the sole diagnostic instrument in individual cases. (Author)

Elovitz, Gerald P. – Diagnostique, 1979
Measures of visual perception, such as the Bender Visual-Motor Gestalt Test (BVMGT) usually require motoric responding, i.e., drawing of figures. An alternative test, the Non-Motoric Visual Gestalt Test (NVGT), is compared with the BVMGT and shown to be superior in measuring visual-perceptual abilities that can discriminate poor and average…

Schneider, Michael A.; Spivack, George – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1979
Fifty subjects were classified as having a primary (endogenous) or secondary (exogenous) reading disability; then their Bender protocols were scored. Results indicated that specific score distortions, but not total developmental scores, differentiated between the two groups and that the primary group was more severely reading retarded. Killian, L. R. – 1971
A twenty-six-month follow-up study was made of 75 Anglo- and Spanish-American primary school children who were examined on the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, the Illinois Test of Psycholinguistic Abilities, and the Bender Visual-Motor Gestalt Test in order to determine the specific cognitive deficits which might account for the poor…

Petti, Michael – Academic Therapy, 1988
Examples of diagnostic formulations of the "Bender Visual-Motor Gestalt" are outlined and their instructional implications are delineated. The difficulties in paper and pencil copying of geometric designs focus primarily on: separation and overlapping of figures, repetition of design elements, pencil grip, visual perceptions, pattern…

Froman, Robin D.; Owen, Steven V. – 1977
The long term predictive validity of the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC) and the Bender Visual Motor Gestalt Test for Children, when used for the educational placement of exceptional students, was investigated. In 1971, 225 learning disabled elementary school students were tested on the WISC and the Bender. The students were…

Lambert, Nadine; Grossman, Herbert – 1964
Medical factors were assessed in 20 children (grades 1 to 10) with behavior and learning problems, and an educational program was subsequently offered. All 20 had their case histories taken, were given pediatric and open electroencephalograph examinations, and were evaluated by psychological tests. One team of physicians found no clearly defined…
