The Three C's of Leadership
Jennifer Gayle Rogers
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Pepperdine University
This study aimed to investigate and identify the strategies and best practices employed by elementary school leaders through the teacher's lens to ensure their success. Additionally, the research sought to view school leadership behaviors and practices through the teacher's lens. This approach created collaboration and communication between the school leader and their teachers. Moreover, this qualitative phenomenological study focused on independent school teachers with at least 10 years of teaching experience. The researcher collected data by interviewing 15 teachers from independent schools across Los Angeles County to answer four main research questions through corresponding interview questions. The findings connected to the literature themes of collaboration, communication, and care, called the Three C's. Overall, based on the interviews and findings from the research and the literature corroborating the data collected, this study contributed to creating the JGRogers D.N.A model of leadership, which detailed the desires, needs, and abilities of school teachers to be successful. Ultimately, the research and model will provide a lens for school leaders to listen and understand what their teachers need from them to be successful educators in their classrooms. This study adds to the current education, leadership, and collaboration literature. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
