The field of online education has increasingly recognized digitally automated proctoring as a prominent and pressing issue in recent years. The increasing prevalence of online examination deception has prompted a heated debate. The purpose of the study is to capture advancements in this research field, offering a concise overview of current focuses in educational technology. It explores global, institutional, and keyword connections, as well as co-citation patterns among authors, journals, and references, serving as an eye-opener to the scope and direction of ongoing work. Bibliometric methodology is utilized to compile 263 documents from the core collection of the Web of Science database. The R-Studio cloud-based Biblioshiny software and VOSviewer software are used to categorize and evaluate research articles. The findings suggest a general upward trajectory in publications during the research period that followed the pandemic. Identification is provided of the most pertinent relevant authors, institutional affiliations, citations, the top contributing journals, countries, most cited documents, summary of top articles, and distribution of research directions. The analysis concludes by presenting the citation network, country collaborations, and factorial map. The study is limited by language bias and the custom setup of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The study fills the gap in the current literature by amalgamating the current body of knowledge in the field. There is still a need for further research by enhancing the research criteria and broadening the inclusion and exclusion criteria.
