Rychlak, Joseph F. – Child Development, 1975
Describes a group method for determining the influence of reinforcement on a child's recognition learning. Subjects were found to recognize designs and abstract paintings which they had idiographically prejudged as positive in reinforcement value more readily than those which they had prejudged as megative. A total of 122 kindergartners, third and fifth graders viewed 30 pictures of familiar objects and interested on their free recall of the object names and their recognition of the original pictures. Half received instruction in adult recognition strategies, half in adult recall strategies. (MS)
