This chapter discusses the meaning and significance of political change in education, examining it from three different perspectives based on the existing research in the politics of education. The first research orientation addresses the question, "What is the nature of the politics of educational change?"; the second orientation asks, "What is the nature of political change in education?"; and the third orientation asks, "What is the nature of change in the politics of education?" The author discusses each of these perpectives in turn, examining the implications of each and briefly reviewing significant research representative of each approach. (JG)
