The conceptualization and methodology behind the "Macquarie Dictionary," a lexicographical project on World English in an Asian context are briefly outlined. The motivations for the dictionary are discussed, as are the book's corpus, the types of lexical items included from various registers of Asian English, and the market for such a dictionary.
