An International Student Program in a Church-Operated Christian School
Ric Nelson
ProQuest LLC, D.Min. Dissertation, Clarks Summit University and Baptist Bible Seminary
An International Student Program (ISP) should be an essential part of a church's mission program. A vital purpose of every church must be disciple-making. When a church-operated Christian school sets up an ISP, this must be its primary purpose. With this as its main objective, a church must formulate its central belief systems regarding Truth, missions, culture, and Christian education and tie the ISP into these beliefs. Because this critical component is missing in the literature, this dissertation has laid out many of these foundational beliefs. It demonstrates how these beliefs will be used in formulating a school's ISP. The dissertation then includes steps in how to start an ISP. It includes important information to consider throughout the process. Finally, the sample material is provided for a ministry to view as they develop their own ISP. The recommendation is for all churches to be involved through missions by operating an ISP or to partner with a local school, college, or university's ISP. The mission field has come to the United States through education. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
