Compared self-reported characteristics of 22 families who completed the Family Environment Scale with direct behavioral observations of interactions on a problem-solving task. Results showed the expressiveness and conflict subscales correlated significantly with behavioral variables, while the cohesion and control subscales did not. (JAC)

Used the Family Environment Scale to study order effects and nature of differences between subjects' (N=66) ratings of their current and past families. Results indicated that the order of administration is significant and that differences are due to intergenerational differences rather than to differences in current-past family functioning. (LLL)

A principal components analysis of the Family Environment Scale (FES) (R. Moos and B. Moos, 1994) was performed using 113 undergraduates.
