This article describes a method that may be used in assisting counselor trainees in assessing and developing their counseling styles. The emphasis is away from indoctrination toward any one approach to counseling and toward facilitating the trainees' achievement of their own goals. (Author)

This study investigated questions raised by previous research by Barak and LaCrosse regarding perceptions of counselor behavior. Different groups of subjects viewed interviews and rated them on 36 bipolar items (Counselor Rating Form). Results indicated that the perceived dimensions were reliable as measured by the Counselor Rating Form. (Author)

This study investigated some relationships between the verbal behavior of 20 experienced therapists and their therapist effectiveness. Forced oral responses to a taped therapy interaction were obtained and analyzed. Each dependent variable was correlated against a rating of a therapist's effectiveness. Findings are discussed.
