An Investigation of Principal Leadership Behaviors as Perceived by New and Veteran Teachers
Givinia Warren Causey
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Freed-Hardeman University
The overarching goal of this quantitative study was to explore new and veteran teachers' perceptions of the importance principals place on leadership behaviors informed by Green's (2010) 13 core competencies. Green's (2010) Leadership Behavior Inventory?was utilized and consisted of 39 questions measuring the importance leaders place on behaviors informed by 13 leadership competencies. Though data from 136 participants indicated that there was not a statistically significant difference in the degree to which new and veteran teachers perceived their leaders' behaviors were informed by the core competencies, there were significant relationships among the perceived importance of various behaviors informed by those competencies. The results of this study add to the literature investigating the importance of principal leadership, especially as it relates to the visibility of behaviors informed by Green's (2010) 13 core competencies, which may further assist schools as they support both new and veteran teachers.
