A Review and Synthesis of the Literature on Teacher Induction: The Vocational Education Perspective.
Talbert, B. Allen; And Others
Journal of Industrial Teacher Education, v29 n2 p35-50 Win 1992
Review of literature on four induction models (mentoring, fifth-year programs, alternative certification, and professional development) and case studies of beginning vocational teachers suggest that mentoring requires substantial commitment in time and resources; induction experiences are unique, so induction assistance programs need to be general and flexible; and traditionally certified teachers need different assistance than do alternatively certified teachers.
