Because the assumption that formal education should be completed between the ages of 18 and 24 is no longer tenable, the author suggests that universities will increasingly become continuing education institutions. The prediction is made that the role of extension education in the new situation will be large. (LF)

Seminars on curriculum development transmitted by satellite are operated by the University of the South Pacific, Suva. The satellite was launched in 1966 by NASA, which has permitted educational broadcasting. Ground stations have been set up in eight countries that support the university. Practical aspects of transmission are outlined. (SW)

An interest survey sent to 2400 pharmacists revealed sufficient interest in courses for credit. A course in therapeutics of major diseases, video-taped on campus and extended to pharmacists at five sites via the statewide higher education video network, is discussed. The majority of pharmacists expressed interest in future courses. (Author/MLW)
