Lee, Howard B.; Comrey, Andrew L. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1979
The popular factor analytic procedure of putting unities in the main diagonal and retaining all factors with an eigenvalue greater than one is criticized with respect to the number of factors retained and resultant estimates of common variance. Ways of avoiding these difficulties are discussed. (JKS)

Reise, Steven P.; Gomel, Jessica N. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1995
The parameters of full-information item factor models of varying dimensionality and mixed-measurement models of varying numbers of latent classes were estimated in 1,000 responses to a measure of Positive Interpersonal Engagement. The most appropriate representation of the data and deciding between mixed-measurement and dimensional representations…

Lorr, Maurice; Manning, Tracey T. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1978
To determine the higher order factors defined by scales of the Interpersonal Style Inventory, data from two male samples and one female sample were separately analyzed. The five rotated factors established were highly similar across samples. (Author/JKS)

Jones, Lawrence E.; Iacobucci, Dawn – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1989
The structure of voters' affective reactions and trait attributions to national political figures was studied through 3-mode factor analysis of ratings by 78 college students of 16 political figures. The factor analysis suggested that positive and negative affect and affect and trait factors were distinct but correlated. (SLD)

O'Grady, Kevin E.; And Others – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1979
Male and female undergraduate psychology students were administered the Adjective Check List, Bem Sex Role Inventory and Personal Attributes Questionnaire. The masculinity and femininity subscale scores for each of these three measures were correlated and subjected to a principal factor analysis with varimax rotation separately for males and…
