Belcher, Marcia J.; And Others – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1984
Compared the factor patterns underlying male (N=221) and female (N=420) self-reports on the Bem Sex Role Inventory. Results showed that when males and females were compared, only one of 10 factors reached the similarity criterion, suggesting that gender can be an important confounding variable in sex role research.
