This study investigated the process of fear change during a course of systematic desensitization therapy. Behavioral, subjective, and physiological measures of fear were taken following each of eight therapy sessions. This study constitutes an effort to apply to females the role-theoretical orientation to work and retirement in old age which has often been applied to men. This study examines the relationship between self-disclosure and three facets of diminished mental health in a black female college student sample. Anxiety was significantly related to self-disclosure in the direction opposite to that predicted by the theory of self-disclosure. Implications are discussed. (Author)

Three groups of women with sexual dysfunction were evaluated pretreatment and posttreatment. Two groups did not involve partner participation, while the third group included partners on two occasions. Results for all groups were similar. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of two counseling procedures in treating depression when used to individually counsel moderately depressed rural women of low socioeconomic status. Analysis established that women of the lower class made significant improvement, as did women living on more than $400 per month. (Author)

S. national surveys, middle-aged women whose children have left home report, as a whole, somewhat greater happiness and enjoyment of life than women of similar age with a child (or children) living at home, and the former report substantially greater marital happiness than the latter.
