Comparison of scores on the Child Behavior Checklist of 1,120 Flemish and 1,122 Dutch children, aged 6 to 12 years, found no differences between groups on total problem scores, higher scores for Dutch children on the Activities scale, and higher scores for Flemish children on the School scale. (DB)

In this Netherlands study, 41 deaf boys (ages 6 to 11) were compared to hearing children using the Child Behavior Checklist. The deaf boys appeared to have more internalizing and externalizing behavioral problems but were no more often disturbed than their hearing counterparts. Principal factor analysis and promax rotations were performed on Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) scores of 2,339 clinically referred Dutch children. Dutch syndromes were very similar to the CBCL cross-informant syndromes derived by T. M. Aschenbach (1991), supporting the cross-cultural generalizability of the CBCL cross-informant syndromes. (SLD)
