Lee, Gabrielle T.; Hu, Xiaoyi; Liu, Yanhong; Yang, Zijin – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2021
Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often lack symbolic play skills. Attribution of pretend properties (APP) is a type of symbolic play in which a child tacts pretend properties of an object (e.g., smelling a toy flower and saying, "It smells like a rose!"). Cortez, Mariéle Diniz; dos Santos, Letícia; Quintal, Ana Elisa; Silveira, Marcelo V.; de Rose, Julio C. – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2020
We evaluated the effects of tact and listener instruction on the emergence of bidirectional intraverbal relations with 6 typically developing Brazilian children, using an adapted alternating treatment design with pretest and posttest probes. Petursdottir, Anna Ingeborg; Haflidadottir, Rakel Dogg – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2009
We compared the effects of tact training, listener training, and two types of intraverbal training on 2 children's acquisition of foreign-language tact, listener, and intraverbal relations. The children received all four types of training simultaneously with different stimulus sets. Native-foreign intraverbal training presented the greatest…

Murphy, Carol; Barnes-Holmes, Dermot – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2010
Three 14-year-old boys with diagnoses of autism learned to mand for the delivery or removal of tokens by presenting nonsense syllables (A[subscript 1-5], respectively). Petursdottir, Anna Ingeborg; Olafsdottir, Alma Run; Aradottir, Berglind – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2008
We evaluated the effects of 2 types of training on the emergence of bidirectional intraverbal relations with 4 typically developing children. Tact training involved reinforcing foreign-language vocalizations in the presence of visual stimuli, and listener training involved reinforcing selections of visual stimuli following vocal presentations of…

Singh, Nirbhay N.; And Others – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 1986
In three single-subject experiments with three profoundly retarded adolescent females, the effect of water mist spray on self-injurious and collateral behaviors was compared with either facial screening or forced arm exercise. Results suggested that while water mist spray is effective, it may be less so than alternative procedures. (Author/JW)
