Trost, Jan – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1978
The opinion among Swedes is that there is a higher commitment and a higher responsibility among those having been married for a long time than among those having been married for a short time. These data point toward existence of a renewed or perhaps a new courtship and marriage pattern. (Author)

MacEwen, Karyl E.; Barling, Julian – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1991

Voydanoff, Patricia; Rodman, Hyman – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1978
Data on marital careers of 176 lower-class individuals from Trinidad are analyzed in terms of the frequency and sequencing of three types of marital unions--friending, living, and marriage. Sequencing of marital unions shows movement toward more stable relationships within partnerships and throughout the individual's marital career. (Author)

Rich, George W. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1978
Traditional Icelandic patterns of domestic organization have not changed significantly with industrialization and economic growth. Kon, Igor S.; Losenkov, Vladimir A. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1978
The purpose of this questionnaire survey of more than 1500 Soviet adolescents, aged 14 to 20, was to clarify the important and meaningful criteria for teenage friendships and to describe actual forms and psychosocial functions of these friendships. Results suggest adolescent friendship is not losing its significance or its exclusiveness. (Author)

Cancian, Francesca M. – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1971
Studies of family interaction in Zinacantan, Mexico and Cambridge, Massachusetts, are used to test four hypotheses: (1) affection elicits affection; (2) dominance elicits submission; (3) all group members will exhibit the same degree of affection, and (4) all group members will exhibit the same degree of dominance submission.
