Based on a study of collections at major university and museum libraries, this article analyzes how librarians have defined, organized, permitted access to, and established bibliographic control over these specialized materials. (JAB)

Various types of pirated Chinese books are given with specific examples. The basic steps followed for the proper identification of these books is described, and remedies suggested in case the original is discovered after the book has been cataloged according to the information given by the book pirate.
