In this paper, the author argues that the problematization of territorial movements in the process of globalization can provide important insights to understand some educational aspects of contemporary migration, especially if the theoretical ingredients involved in the political analysis of the signifying dimension of this process are articulated and discussed. In order to develop her argument, the author organizes this paper in three sections. First, she criticizes the viewpoint that equates globalization with neoliberalism, revising different angles of the process. Once the complex movement is situated, she introduces the critique to an idea of territory tied to a topographic ground. Then she presents some aspects concerning the way in which both territoriality, understood as a signifying open-ended system, and the de-centering of the current approach to education as a schooling process entail a productive approach to some movements involved in globalization.
