Sideridis, Georgios D.; Jaffari, Fathima – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2022
The present study describes an R function that implements six corrective procedures developed by Bartlett, Swain, and Yuan in the correction of 21 statistics associated with the omnibus Chi-square test, the residuals, or fit indices in confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and structural equation modeling (SEM).

Daniel A. DeCino; Steven R. Chesnut; Phillip L. Waalkes; Reed N. Keen – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2025
Objective: The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the Counselor Self-Reflection Inventory (CSRI) from a Transformative Learning Theory framework for counselors, and counselors-in-training to use in clinical and training settings. Method: A sample of 351, mostly female (86.89%), white (85.19%), counselors with MS or MA (88.08%)…

Reese, Ryan; Holden, Christopher J.; Hall, Christian; Wingrove, Twila – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2022
We examined the replicability of the 61-item EcoWellness Inventory (EI-61; Reese et al., 2015) and the factor structure of a brief form (i.e., EI-15). The EI-15 demonstrated excellent model fit and initial convergent validity evidence. The inventory serves as a potentially useful tool for assessing ecowellness in professional counseling practice…

Aldawsari, Hussam; Laux, John M.; Dari, Tahani; Gaballa, Heba – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2021
This study presents the Revised Arabic Schwartz Outcome Scale-10 (Blais et al., 1999). Data collected from Arabic and English speakers residing in the United States (n = 152) and international Arabic speakers (n = 423) provided robust psychometric support for the instrument's use to measure Arabic speakers' mental health outcomes.

Strunk, Kamden K.; Lane, Forrest C. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2017
A common concern about the Beck Depression Inventory, Second edition (BDI-II) among researchers in the area of depression has long been the single-factor scoring scheme. Methods exist for making cross-sample comparisons of latent structure but tend to rely on estimation methods that can be imprecise and unnecessarily complex. This study presents a…

Lewis, Todd F. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2017
American Educational Research Association (AERA) standards stipulate that researchers show evidence of the internal structure of instruments. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) is one structural equation modeling procedure designed to assess construct validity of assessments that has broad applicability for counselors interested in instrument…

Rusu, Petruta P.; Hilpert, Peter; Turliuc, Maria N.; Bodenmann, Guy – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2016
This study investigates the psychometric properties of the Romanian version of the Dyadic Coping Inventory with data from 510 married couples. The results confirm the theoretical factorial structure of the Dyadic Coping Inventory for both partners, indicating convergent validity, discriminate validity, and measurement invariance (across genders…

Cokley, Kevin – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
The factor structure of the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) was examined with a sample of 578 Black college students. A confirmatory factor analysis of the AMS was conducted. Results indicated that the hypothesized seven-factor model did not fit the data. Implications for future research with the AMS are discussed.
Descriptors: Factor Structure, Factor Analysis, Goodness of Fit, Student Motivation
Montes, Silvana Andrea; Ledesma, Rubén Daniel; García, Natalia Mariana; Poó, Fernando Martín – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The purpose of this study was to provide evidence of validity for the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale scores in an Argentine sample (Spanish-language version). Results indicated satisfactory psychometric properties (a one-factor structure, good item discrimination, high reliability, and significant correlations with additional measures). This…

Ahn, Christine M.; Ebesutani, Chad; Kamphaus, Randy W. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2014
The present study was the first to examine the psychometric properties of the Korean version of the Behavior Assessment System for Children-2, Self-Report of Personality, College Version (K-BASC-2 SRP-COL), among a Korean national sample. Using 1,000 Korean college students, ages 18 to 25 years, we found support for the reliability (via internal…

Guo, Mingchun; Morawska, Alina; Filus, Ania – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2017
This study validated a parent-report measure of the Parenting and Family Adjustment Scales in a Chinese cultural context through investigating 650 Chinese parents. The results provided evidence for satisfactory reliability and validity of Parenting and Family Adjustment Scales in a Chinese context, which is thus promising to be used for Chinese…

Erford, Bradley T.; Butler, Caitlin; Peacock, Elizabeth – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2015
The Screening Test for Emotional Problems-Teacher Version (STEP-T) was designed to identify students aged 7-17 years with wide-ranging emotional disturbances. Coefficients alpha and test-retest reliability were adequate for all subscales except Anxiety. The hypothesized five-factor model fit the data very well and external aspects of validity were…

Wright, Stephen L.; Wright, Dorothy A.; Jenkins-Guarnieri, Michael A. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2013
The current study developed an 18-item scale measuring individuals' social expectations in relationships related to their efficacy expectations (Subscale 1) and outcome expectations (Subscale 2) based on Bandura's self-efficacy theory. Results from exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses, using an undergraduate sample ("N" = 486),…

Dimitrov, Dimiter M. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2010
This article describes the logic and procedures behind testing for factorial invariance across groups in the context of construct validation. The procedures include testing for configural, measurement, and structural invariance in the framework of multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The "forward" (sequential constraint imposition)…

Erford, Bradley T.; Lowe, Samantha; Chang, Catherine Y. – Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, 2011
The Self-Evaluation Scale--Teacher version, used to assess teacher perceived self-esteem of students, was analyzed. A unidimensional model emerged from exploratory factor analysis, with cautious acceptance of data fit. Reliability and external aspects of validity were supported by the Self-Evaluation Scale--Teacher data.
