Sampson, Dick T. – Family Journal: Counseling and Therapy for Couples and Families, 1996
Claims that the use of Kokeshi dolls--a small limbless cylindrical wooden doll from Japan--allows counseling supervisees to focus on conceptualizations, personalization, and process skills. Uses a case study to illustrate how these dolls can enhance supervision, allowing trainees to become actively involved in the supervision process. (RJM)

In order to facilitate a synergistic relationship to the community, the Center for Human Development was established at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Trainees who were attracted to their supervisors were rated as more effective by supervisors, although attraction was not related to clients' perceptions of outcome. A direct style of supervision was related to trainee effectiveness, but on only one of three measures of the dependent variable. (Author)
