Assesses the moral reasoning of Hawaiian youths. Findings challenge C. Gilligan's theoretical proposition that gender differences exist in moral development. Implications for counseling theory, research, and practice are discussed. (Author)

This article reports on a study designed to assess the moral development and self-esteem of Hawaiian youth, a group which has received scant attention from researchers in the past. After presenting the results, the implications of these findings for counselor education, practice, and future multicultural counseling are discussed. (Author/LKS)
