Admissions of 370 people with developmental disabilities to a community hospital were examined to determine how coordinated care affected length of stay and hospital charges. The coordinated care admissions stayed less time and had lower charges compared to admissions who received their routine care by community physicians. (Author/SW)

This editorial reviews areas of health care reform including managed health care, diagnosis-related groups, and the Resource-Based Relative Value Scale for physician services. Relevance of such reforms to people with developmental disabilities is considered. Much needed insurance reform is not thought to be likely, however. (DB)
