Hansson, Robert O.; And Others – Journal of Research in Personality, 1983
Identified stable components of Type A behavior and examined their relationships in a study of 69 male college students. Katzman, Melanie A.; Wolchik, Sharlene A. – 1983
Recent studies have indicated that bulimia, characterized by binge eating followed by depressed mood and purging, is increasing. To investigate the behavioral and emotional antecedents and consequences of binge eating in women, 22 female college students (14 diagnosed bulimics, 8 binge eaters) completed self-monitoring forms for four binges.…

Aamodt, Michael G.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
The personality profiles of nonathletes and baseball, football, and track team members were investigated as segmented types. Toohey, J. V.; And Others – Journal of Drug Education, 1982
Identified college students' (N=139) self-reported reasons for using or not using marijuana. Compared these patterns with value frameworks from which drug decisions are made. Findings are varied and suggest that specificity is needed in drug education, with emphasis on diminishing the "Therapeutic Drug Ethic" values system. (Author/RC)

Reeder, Glenn D.; And Others – Journal of Research in Personality, 1982
Investigated the implicational relations between dispositional levels and relevant categories of behavior. Findings were consistent with the idea that dispositional labels are used to represent a central tendency in a person's behavior. (Author)

Wallston, Barbara Strudler; And Others – Journal of Counsulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The Health Locus of Control (HLC) Scale is an area-specific measure of expectancies regarding locus of control developed for prediction of health-related behavior. Two experiments show discriminant validity of the HLC in contrast with Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale. Normative data on the HLC are provided. (Author)

A Study of the Relation between Locus of Control and Risk Taking for Graduate Students in Education.
Gutierrez, Raymond Joseph – 1982
Previous research has stressed the role of both expectancies and reinforcement in the decision making process. In order to determine if the measure of externality and internality correlates with an association between willingness to risk and external/internal locus of control, and to determine the role of social learning in students…

Lester, Lewis F.; Perez, Paul – 1977
This study examines and supports the hypothesis that diverse student behavior can be meaningfully and usefully construed when viewed from the single perspective described here as hedonism vs. the Protestant Ethic. Subjects were 1375 male and female undergraduate students. Anonymous questionnaires dealing with background, academic life, social and…

Schotte, David E.; Clum, George A. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1982
Examined a model of suicide behavior in college-aged suicide ideators. Results indicate that college-student suicide ideators are under higher levels of negative life stress, are more hopeless, and have higher levels of depression. Poor problem-solvers under high stress were higher on suicide intent than other groups. (Author)

Matthews, Karen A. – Child Development, 1979
Examines the initial reactions of type A and type B boys and men to uncontrollable events. Type A individuals are characterized by extremes of competitive achievement striving, impatience, and aggression, a pattern of behavior implicated by recent research in the etiology of coronary heart disease. Type B individuals exhibit the relative absence…

Tuckman, Bruce W. – 1990
A self-report measure of procrastination tendencies was developed and tested by relating it to a behavioral measure of procrastination and to a self-report measure of general efficacy. A 72-item Likert scale was written and administered to 50 college juniors and seniors. A factor analysis of the results yielded two factors that formed the basis…

Strube, Michael J.; And Others – 1984
Past research has established clear behavioral differences between Type A and Type B individuals. The manner in which these behavioral differences are represented in the self-definitions of Type As and Bs was examined in a group of 42 college students. The existence of Type A and B self-schemata was investigated using two tasks designed to measure…

Powers, Richard B.; Boyle, William – 1983
The purpose of the Commons Game is to teach students how social traps work; that is, that short-term individual gain tends to dominate long-term collective gain. Simulations of Commons Dilemma have grown considerably in the last decade; however, the research has used small face-to-face groups to study behavior in the Commons. To compare the…
