A college drug education course is examined to determine whether (1) it affected students' consumption of drugs and (2) whether drug consumption is stimulated by such a course. It was concluded that consumption was not significantly reduced, while the use of amphetamines slightly increased. (MJB)

This study examines trends in student attitudes and behavior toward drugs over a twelve-month period, and follows up a previous investigation of University of Maryland students' attitudes and behavior toward drug use. Identified college students' (N=139) self-reported reasons for using or not using marijuana. Compared these patterns with value frameworks from which drug decisions are made. Findings are varied and suggest that specificity is needed in drug education, with emphasis on diminishing the "Therapeutic Drug Ethic" values system. (Author/RC)

Determined the effectiveness of a voluntary educational program on the drinking attitudes and behaviors of college students (N=1,000).
