Suter, W. Newton; Roberts, William L. – Contemporary Educational Psychology, 1987
This study examined halo in raters' beliefs of item (attribute) relatedness. College students' prior beliefs of the co-occurrence of teaching attributes were correlated with actual correlation of teaching attributes of fictional college professors. Results showed some support for beliefs-of-relatedness source of halo. (LMO)

Moore, Michael – 1985
With the help of widely available microcomputers, it is possible to demonstrate certain statistical phenomena which students of statistics are usually expected to take on faith. Two demonstrations are described. In the first demonstration, three common types of sampling (simple random, biased, and stratified-random) are used to compare statistics…

Zeng, Lingjia – 1991
Large sample standard errors of linear equating for the single-group design are derived without making the normality assumption. Two general methods based on the delta method of M. Kendall and A. Stuart (1977) are described. One method uses the exact partial derivatives, and the other uses numerical derivatives. Simulation using the beta-binomial…

Miller, Timothy R. – 1991
Two studies were carried out to evaluate the quality of multidimensional item response theory (MIRT) model parameter estimates obtained from the computer program NOHARM. The purpose of the first study was to compute empirical estimates of the standard errors of the parameters. In addition, the parameter estimates were evaluated for bias and the…

Stenz, John C.; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1988
Describes eight uses of the microcomputer in the chemistry classroom. Includes games, simulations, and graphics programs most of which are available from Project SERAPHIM. (MVL)

Parshall, Cynthia G.; And Others – 1991
A Monte Carlo study was conducted to compare the statistical bias and standard errors of non-equivalent-groups linear test equating in small samples of examinees. One thousand samples of each size (15, 25, 50, and 100) were drawn with replacement from each of five archival data files from elementary school and secondary school teacher subject area…
