Fortunato, Vincent J.; Stone-Romero, Eugene F. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
A 33-item Likert-type scale, the Strain-Free Negative Affectivity scale, was developed to measure negative affectivity that does not contain strain content. The measure was administered to samples of 225 and 281 college students. Results support the construct validity of the scale's scores. Contains 37 references. (SLD)

Meyer, J. H. F.; Eley, M. G. – Higher Education, 1999
Developed conceptually discrete subscales to represent affective sources of variation in student learning that are specific to learning mathematics. Tested these subscales, the Experiences of Studying Mathematics Inventory, with 317 South African and Australian undergraduate mathematics students and groups of 1,439 and 387 British, South African,…

Gasser, Michael B.; Tan, Rowena N. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Developed a scale of cultural tolerance, examined the latent structure of the scale, and determined its relationship to other relevant constructs. Results with samples of 262, 165, and 86 college students suggest a two-dimensional structure of items assessing affect and belief and items assessing intention to behave. Contains 41 references. (SLD)

Sullivan, Michael J. L.; And Others – Psychological Assessment, 1995
A series of 4 studies involving 547 college students and community adults report the development of the Pain Catastrophizing Scale, its validity with clinical and nonclinical samples, and its correlation with measures of related constructs. The scale provides information about heightened responses to aversive procedures or events. (SLD)

McInerney, Valentina; Marsh, Herbert W.; McInerney, Dennis M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1999
Developed a multidimensional measure of affect and cognition in relation to adult learning of computing skills, the Computer Anxiety and Learning Measure (CALM). Results from 794 Australian undergraduates support the validity and reliability of the CALM with this population, although whether the measure is invariant across different adult…

Negative affectivity (NA) has been defined as a stable and pervasive individual difference characterized by a disposition to experience aversive emotional states (D. Watson and L. A. Clark, 1984). A brief self-report scale was developed to assess NA. The initial 28-item scale (which included seven items each representing nervousness/calmness,…

Fogleman, Janice M. – 1982
An observational rating instrument was developed to measure affective traits of medical technology students. Fourteen categories of behavioral traits evaluated by medical technology programs were identified, based on results of a national survey. These traits were then grouped according to the affective domains established by Krathwohl, Bloom, and…

Allen, Jon G. – Journal of Counsulting and Clinical Psychology, 1976
The Test of Emotional Styles measures three broad dimensions of emotionality: responsiveness, expressiveness, and orientation. This study examined the relationships between the forced-choice Test of Emotional Styles dimensions and measures of related constructs. Hamid, P. Nicholas; Cheng, Sheung-Tak – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1996
A short measure of trait and state negative and positive affect, the Chinese Affect Scale, was developed for Chinese-speaking people and tested in Hong Kong with 306 community adults and 314 college students. Wolfe, Mary L.; Damrosch, Shirley P. – 1985
The attributions of success and failure in a course in nursing research design and statistics were measured using a modified version of the Mathematics Attribution Scale.
