Bird, Gloria W.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1984
Used data from 166 couples to explore the relationship between family task sharing and sex-role orientation, role salience, income, and family type. Yogev, Sara – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1981
Studied marital dynamics of 106 faculty women at Northwestern University, focusing on a division of housework and childcare. Questionnaire responses indicated a traditional pattern. Suggests today's professional women are going through a role expansion rather than a role redefinition. (Author/RC)

Ericksen, Julia A.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1979
Analyzes the marital role division between couples, in the Philadelphia area, concentrating on the division of household tasks, child care, and paid employment. Data support a marital power model with husband's income negatively related and wife's education positively related to shared roles. Blacks are more likely to share roles. (Author)

Nock, Steven L.; Kingston, Paul William – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1984
Uses national survey data to estimate three dimensions of the family work day: (1) total daily work time; (2) time at least one spouse is at work; and (3) time only one spouse is at work. Indicates how the presence of children affects arrangements of the family work day. (JAC)

Tavecchio, Louis W. C.; And Others – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1984
Analyzed the actual and preferred division of family tasks in a group of Dutch families with preschool children (N=237). Results showed a noticeable trend toward egalitarianism, particularly in the higher socioeconomic strata; however, this egalitarianism appeared not so much a fact as an ideal to be pursued. (LLL)

Maret, Elizabeth; Finlay, Barbara – Journal of Marriage and the Family, 1984
Investigates whether women in dual-earner families maintain full responsibility for domestic tasks.
