The purpose of the study was to provide information about the initial differences between students entering coed and single-sex university dormitories and to identify the different effects of these living arrangements on male and female students. A sample of 248 students taking undergraduate accredited field experience courses at Michigan State University felt that their major vocational, personal, and general educational objectives were met by their curriculum. Variables contributing to minority students' decisions not to attend a particular university once admitted were investigated by a questionnaire and a subsequent telephone poll. Results suggested that dissatisfaction with financial aid weighed heavily in their decisions not to attend. (Author)

Randomly sampled students (N=287) indicated the Help Line at the University of Nebraska significantly helped with their personal and informational needs. Perceptions of Help Line's purposes fell into two groups: informational versus personal. The two groups had radically different call rates. Advertising procedures are also discussed. (Author)
