Waffenschmidt, Siw; Guddat, Charlotte – Research Synthesis Methods, 2015
Background: It is unclear which terms should be included in bibliographic searches for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of drugs, and identifying relevant drug terms can be extremely laborious. The aim of our analysis was to determine whether a bibliographic search using only the generic drug name produces sufficient results for the generation…

And Others; Lynch, Michael F. – Information Storage and Retrieval, 1973
A high degree of constancy has been found in the microstructure of titles of samples of the INSPEC data base taken over a three-year period. Character and digram frequencies are relatively stable, while variable-length character-strings characterizing samples separated by three years in time show close similarities. Landau, H.B. – 1969
This is the second in a series of eight reports of a research study for the National Agricultural Library (NAL) on the effective utilization of bibliographic data bases in machine-readable form. It consists of two parts. The first part defines the basic interaction alternatives and subalternatives open to the NAL with respect to its interfacing…

Cadwallader, Gouverneur – 1969
Sixth in a series of eight reports of a research study for the National Agricultural Library (NAL) on the effective utilization of bibliographic data bases in machine-readable form, this report deals with the query language, search strategy and related considerations for a particular information storage and retrieval system. One section of the…

Elchesen, Dennis R. – Journal of the American Society for Information Science, 1973
The formation of a single, correlated set of data elements, accomplished by merging sixteen commercial and national bibliographic data bases, and subsequent improvements in current awareness and information retrieval activities are described. The correlation is compatible with most existing and proposed data-element standards. (27 references)…

Wall, E.; Barnes, J. – 1969
This is the fifth in a series of eight reports of a research study for the National Agricultural Library (NAL) on the effective utilization of bibliographic data bases in machine readable form. NAL desires ultimately to develop techniques of interacting with other data bases so that queries put to NAL may be answered with documents or document…
