Thomas, David B. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1975
A sequential testing model is proposed which employs discriminant functions to classify examinees into groups which could correspond to instructional treatments. A termination rule based on the computed posterior probability of group membership is suggested. (Author)
Descriptors: Classification, Instructional Systems, Models, Sequential Approach
Adams, E. N. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1974
The possible application of ideas to control test scoring is discussed. (Author)

White, Arthur; Smith, Douglas D. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1974
Descriptors: Computer Assisted Instruction, Decision Making, Educational Research, Instructional Systems
Lantz, Brian S; And Others – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1983
Production rules used to build a problem-solving system and a tutorial interface that controls interaction between user and system are described. The tutorial interface controls the rule- based problem solver used to emulate a student's steps, while the system provides a flexible framework for algebraic problem solving. (Author/MBR)

Su, Stanley Y. W.; Eman, Ahmed E. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1975
A computer assisted instruction system designed and developed on a minicomputer for teaching the principles and operation of software systems is described. (Author)
Descriptors: Computer Assisted Instruction, Computer Science, Computer Science Education, Curriculum Development
Fitzpatrick, Michael J.; Howard, James A. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1977
Describes one approach to supplying engineering and computer science educators with an economical portable digital systems laboratory centered around microprocessors. Expansion of the microcomputer based laboratory concept to include Learning Resource Aided Instruction (LRAI) systems is explored. (Author)

Merrill, M. David – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1987
Presents a series of six prescriptions for constructing an authoring system that guides the instructional design process used to create computer-based lessons. The importance of providing opportunities for dynamic interaction between the program and the student is emphasized. (Author/LRW)

Park, Ok-choon – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1984
Describes the theoretical backgrounds and empirical findings of three experimental studies in which computer-based response-sensitive strategies were investigated using concept learning tasks. The strategy applied focused on discrimination learning, generalization learning, and classification skill development in concept learning. A general…

Tennyson, Robert D.; And Others – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1984
Briefly reviews theoretical developments in adaptive instructional systems, defines six characteristics of intelligent computer-based management systems, and presents theory and research of Minnesota Adaptive Instructional System (MAIS). Generic programing codes for amount and sequence of instruction, instructional display time, and advisement…
