Byrnes, Mary Ann M.; Spitz, Herman H. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1977
The performance of 4 groups of mentally retarded Ss, ages 14-17 with mental ages of 8-11, was compared to that of 90 non retarded Ss, grades K-5 with comparable mental ages, on the solution of 2 and 3 disc Hanoi Tower puzzles, solutions to which require logical forsight. (BB)

Burns, Barbara – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1986
Results of the study with 24 mildly or moderately retarded subjects (ages 11-55 years) indicates that a separability hypothesis of perceptual development can be extended to retarded populations. Flynn, Robert J. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1980
Results showed gross differences between low and average IQ Ss on a number of variables. The regression results, however, indicated that the determinants of career attainment had similar effects among low and average IQ Ss, and that status attainment theory applied equally well to the two groups. (Author/DLS)

Roaden, Saundra K.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1980
Results indicated that retarded Ss, relative to normal Ss of all ages, responded particularly slowly to static property statements when objects were animate, and to intrinsic-action properties when objects were inanimate. (Author/DLS)

Adams, Jerry; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1973
Assessed was the degree to which classification of mental retardation levels based upon a measure of adaptive behavior (the Vineland Social Maturity Scale) differed from the classification based upon IQ for Negro and Caucasian children, 4 to 17 years of age. (Author)

Davidson, Philip W.; And Others – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1980
The results showed that accuracy depended on both stimulus complexity, modality, and mental age, regardless of whether or not the Ss were retarded. The selection of haptic search styles also depended on these factors but, in addition, was influenced by the intellectual status of the children. (Author/DLS)

Nidiffer, F. Don; Fowler, Stephen C. – American Journal of Mental Deficiency, 1981
Performance differences between 10 nonretarded children and 10 moderately/severely retarded adolescents on a manual control task were examined. Results suggested that the ability to discriminate internal cues is related to IQ differences. (Author)
