HJELM, HOWARD; NORRIS, RAYMOND C. – 1960
THE STUDY EMPIRICALLY DETERMINED THE EFFECTS OF NONNORMALITY UPON SOME SAMPLING DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE PRODUCT MOMENT CORRELATION COEFFICIENT (PMCC). SAMPLING DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE PMCC WERE OBTAINED BY DRAWING NUMEROUS SAMPLES FROM CONTROL AND EXPERIMENTAL POPULATIONS HAVING VARIOUS DEGREES OF NONNORMALITY AND BY CALCULATING CORRELATION COEFFICIENTS…

OLSON, NORINNE HILCHEY – 1968
THE EXTENT TO WHICH READING READINESS TESTS RELATE TO A GROUP OF INTELLIGENCE TESTS WAS INVESTIGATED. APPROXIMATELY 300 FIRST GRADERS IN 15 CLASSROOMS IN GEORGIA WERE ADMINISTERED THE METROPOLITAN READINESS TEST, THE LEE CLARK READINESS TEST, AND THE CALIFORNIA TEST OF MENTAL MATURITY. FACTOR ANALYSIS WAS USED TO ANALYZE THE DATA. THE SUBTESTS OF…

Peer reviewedKline, P; Cooper, C. – British Journal of Educational Psychology, 1984
Test scores from Comprehensive Ability Battery (CAB) administered to 103 British students were subjected to oblique factor analysis. Six factors were extracted which fitted closely those described by Cattell and colleagues, thus supporting their claims concerning structure of abilities and utility of this American instrument in Great Britain. (CMG)

Peer reviewedWhite, Margaret B.; Hall, Alfred E. – Educational Horizons, 1980
This article briefly traces the development of intelligence testing from its beginnings in 1905 with Alfred Binet; cites the intelligence theories of Spearman, Thurstone, and Guilford; and examines current objections to intelligence tests in terms of what they test and how they are interpreted. (SJL)

West, Lloyd Wilbert – 1962
An investigation was designed to ascertain the effects of cultural background on selected intelligence tests and to identify instruments which validly measure intellectual ability with a minimum of cultural bias. A battery of tests, selected for factor analytic study, was administered and replicated at four grade levels to a sample of Metis and…

Humphreys, Lloyd G.; And Others – 1970
This collection of papers, concerned with the nature and theory of intelligence, forms part of a project to integrate test and factor theory with the empirical, functional relationships involving standard intelligence tests. The project will render more objective the use of factor analysis in personnel research. A definition of intelligence…

Hopkins, Kenneth D. – 1971
The stability and change of verbal, non-verbal, and total IQ scores from group tests were investigated for students tested at Grades 1, 2, 4, 7, 9, and 11. Conclusions are discussed in detail, and the following recommendations are made: (1) Group intelligence tests should not be routinely administered in Grades 1 and 2 unless the users and…
