To examine changes in self-reported anxiety during the course of a small group, Spielberger's State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) was administered at several times to participants in brief, leaderless sensitivity training groups. Examined effectiveness of different empathy training approaches with high and low conceptual level (CL) trainees and effects of client ambivalence on empathic responding. The effect of a model on subjects' willingness to engage in self-disclosure was examined in both laboratory and nonlaboratory settings. Disclosure levels did not differ in the two settings.
