The high positive or negative relationships between many of the sclaes enhance the use of the Basic Scales as aids in determining which specific interest factors contribute most to high or low scores on the empirical scales. The scores on the Basic Scales were closely associated with Like" and Dislike" responses. (Author)

The publishers of 11 popular interest inventories were surveyed for steps taken or planned to eliminate sex bias from their instruments. It is concluded that a concern first formulated at the level of popular opinion has been translated into professional action, public policy, and actual observable change. (Author)

An investigation of the relationships and underlying constructs between expressed and inventoried interests across the occupational classification scheme of Holland, Roe and Strong was undertaken. Differences in SVIB patterns of entering freshmen classes are analyzed. Results indicate shifts in student population toward greater intellectual ability and interests, effects of cultural change, need for educational and curricular reform to take these shifts into account and need for local normative information on basic interests.
