Jacobson, Edward A.; Smith, Stephen J. – Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 1972
It was concluded that Ss preferring low rates of social interchange show greater change following a weekend encounter group than initially high participators, possibly because the behavior of the former is more discrepant from encounter group norms and thus is confronted more. (Author)

Neimeyer, Greg J.; Neimeyer, Robert A. – Social Behavior and Personality, 1986
Examined friendship formation as developing a common understanding of social reality. Individuals engaged in weekly discussions completed repertory grids and attraction ratings after the 4th and 18th weeks of acquaintance. Walker, Ronald E.; And Others – Journal of Applied Behavioral Science, 1972
Results of this study indicated that from prelaboratory to post laboratory, subjects' ratings showed a decrement in self disclosure toward both male and female friends. Thus the communications laboratory seems to have had a significant effect on the participants, the change being in the opposite direction from that expected. (Author)

Pines, Ayala – Social Behavior and Personality, 1976
The relative power of cooperative and trusting patterns of behavior versus those of exploitation and distrust in affecting the results of group decision-making processes was investigated. The outcome of a study using the Prisoner's Dilemma Game seems to suggest the disproportionate influence of competitive people in these settings. (Author)

Finando, Steven J.; And Others – Small Group Behavior, 1977
This research looks at the effects of laboratory training on self concept. The gestalt and encounter approaches are employed to test the amount of self concept change possible in group experiences. (YRJ)

Lewis, Philip; And Others – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1975
The nature and development of interpersonal perceptions in a T group were studied. Results indicate that group members' perceptions are relatively complex and change markedly over sessions in ways consistent with current theories of group development. The analysis permits a first look at a T group free from biases. (Author)

Dabbs, James M., Jr.; And Others – 1983
Traditionally, group research has focused on outcome rather than process. In order to provide an efficient means of data collection and analysis in group process, the Automatic Vocal Transaction Analyzer (AVTA) system was developed to generate an objective chronography of conversation vocalizations, pauses, turntaking, switching, and…

Stokley, Fred; Perlmutter, Joel – 1971
"Teachers and students play games quite as much as lovers, diplomats, husbands, and wives. Teachers come to class equipped with 'Threat' cards and students with 'Mischief' and 'Defiance' cards." Exercises in this book can help people, including teachers, students, administrators, and community groups, to overcome their reliance on "game-playing".…
